Enterprise & Innovation Week (1st-4th March)

Twenty four free public events will be hosted during the second annual IT Sligo Enterprise & Innovation Week, which takes place from March 1st to 4th.

The event celebrates IT Sligo’s links with enterprise and the community, featuring the very best in experts on a range of subjects including, innovation, leadership, team building, female entrepreneurship, sales skills, and digital media marketing, in a series of free public sessions.

The Enterprise Society would like to highlight the following days:

‘Promoting Student Entrepreneurship’  (1st March) and events include a presentation from Larry Farrell, a leading authority and writer on international entrepreneurship, a Games Arcade, a seminar on Computer Clouding, an ‘Ideas Generation’ Workshop, and the Sligo VEC’s Dragon’s Den Final.

‘Bright Sparks’ Competition Launch (3rd March) From Bright Sparks comes the Ultimate Workspace Opportunity.  The competition will be launched by former Dragon’s Den Sarah Newman, in the new Accelerating Campus Entrepreneurship (ACE) space which will be located in the Innovation Centre ground floor.  .  In partnership with the Enterprise Society the student interns have developed and are set to launch the “Bright Sparks” competition. The first of its kind in the Institute,   the Bright Sparks is a competition to encourage IT Sligo students to submit a new business idea on line. The best idea will be selected using a voting process with the business idea with the most votes winning. The dedicated website is being developed in collaboration with a 2nd year Computing student who is designing it as part of his assessment for his final year exams. The “Bright Sparks” competition is set to launch during IT Sligo’s Enterprise and Innovation week 2011.  The aim of the ‘Bright Sparks’ competition is to support the development of new business ideas emerging from IT Sligo.  Students will only have to submit an idea and from their idea it is hoped that they will take the opportunity of working within the workspace provided and bringing that idea to reality.
