IT Sligo Students’ Union always advise students to apply for their grants as early as possible to ensure that you get access to the funds when you need them most. Over the last couple of years the recession has lead to a huge hike in the number of people seeking to return to college, including mature students and graduates wishing to upskill. This has put added pressure on the students grant system.
Changes in the circumstances of the parents of students, who have lost their jobs or have suffered a decrease in salary, has also resulted in more students applying for maintenance grants for the first time.
There will be a number of SUSI Clinics held by the Students’ Union to answer any questions students may have about the grant scheme and to assist them with filling out the grant form.
