USI stands for the Union of students in Ireland. USI is the sole national representative body for students in Ireland. Founded in 1959, USI now represents approximately 230,000 students in colleges nationwide. USI is committed to campaigning on behalf of the students of Ireland for a better education system, fairer student support, genuine diversity in access to education, and adequate funding for all students.

The local USI Rep for the BMW Region is Kevin Donoghue. Kevin is from Doocastle in Mayo. He attended NUI Galway where he earned degrees in philosophy and law. During his time in Galway Kevin was involved with the Witless music event and served as both the Arts Convenor and Postgraduate Officer in his Students’ Union.

An enthusiastic and animated student activist he considers his time as Class Rep to be one of the most rewarding experiences of his time in college.

Kevin is also a huge fan of Nicholas Cage and considers him to be the most prolific actor of all time!
